THE VERY LATESTThe United Democratic Forum Party lead by Musalia Mudavadi are at the Coast of Mombasa this weekend to popularize the party in the region. On Sunday the 19th of May 2012, there will be a public rally at the Tononoka grounds.
People of Mombasa, kindly spare some time to attend the event. I support the IEBC election budget of Kshs 35 billion.I wholeheartedly support the budget of 35 billion put forth by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in order to conduct the 2013 Kenyan General Election. We, as a nation, must not forget the devastating aftermath of the 2007 Kenyan General Elections. I believe those events could have been avoided as a result of clear, live and trusted streaming of poll results to the public. This outcome can only be achieved through more investment of funds and censoring the media to announce only confirmed results. 35 billion is capable of commencing and completing a lot of projects, however, no amount of money is capable of replacing lost lives. I trust Mr. Chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan and his team will use the funds in a reasonable and accountable manner. The sanctity of life is priceless so let us cherish it. "Mudavadi picks UDF, resigns as minister"
By Lordrick Mayabi on May 2nd 2012
Musalia Mudavadi has quit the Local Government Ministry and his position as deputy leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, as he hopped onto the United Democratic Forum (UDF) in readiness to contest the presidency. He however announced that he would remain as a Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Sabatia constituency. He said that he chose UDF as it shares his aspirations and those of Kenyans. “I, Musalia Mudavadi wish to announce that I will be offering myself as a candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Kenya on the ticket of The United Democratic Forum Party at the next elections,” he said amid cheers from supporters. “Even as I applied myself to the challenges of making a new home, I have deeply reflected on the positions I hold in the party and in government on behalf of Kenyans. I have resolved to resign as the ODM Deputy Party Leader and as the Minister for Local Government,” he added. Read More... Official opening of the United Democratic Forum Party (UDF) Secretariat offices in Nairobi, KenyaMay 10th, 2012,
Party Chairman, Secretariat officials and party members; Colleagues Members of Parliament, friends and invited guests; Ladies and gentlemen; It gives me great pleasure to be among you this afternoon. Just over a week ago, I announced that I will pursue my presidential ambitions within the UDF family. Since then, there has been a flood of goodwill and great hospitality as I continue to meet members of the party, the extended UDF family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the openness of your advice, encouragement and support. May I state the following at the onset: I appeal to Kenyans to know that as we reflect on the past, let us not forever remain hostage to it. My ambition is not to be in a political party for the sake of it. I am interested in uniting Kenyans in the 47 counties so as to chart a new peaceful and prosperous path for Kenya. We must take the lessons of history to prepare for a better tomorrow. Let us take with us the lessons we have learnt, no matter how bitter the lessons, and resolve to do things differently. We must ensure that tragedies such as the post-election violence of 07/08 never occur again. My worldview and politics are guided by the need to promote diversity and inclusivity as opposed to glorification of individual, regional and ethnic differences. I have therefore shunned political entities that exist on the basis of personality, regional or ethnic brand recognition. I therefore have no misconceptions that UDF vision and mission is to inspire Kenyans to a fresh start away from the politics of vengeance, hate and animosity. May I also clarify one thing; in offering to be the presidential candidate on UDF, I am fully aware that I will go through a free and fair democratic nomination process. This principle is embedded in the UDF constitution and I am fully conversant with it. In this respect and contrary to the wishes of my detractors; my sojourn has been to seek for a party that offers competition. Ladies and gentlemen; The problems facing our country are enormous. The high rate of poverty escalating unemployment among young people, new forms corruption and the need to improve social and physical infrastructure services are challenges that cannot be addressed by mere slogans. Unity of purpose and commitment to deliver the changes necessary to uplift the economy should be at the core of our politics. We must be sober, deliberative and united in the belief that we can only do it collectively. None of us individually has the needed talents to address these issues. That is why I am of the firm belief that as a family, UDF will resolve these issues. We will work as a family, uniting all Kenyans to work towards building a new Kenya that will reflect the principles of equity and justice. The constellation that is UDF signals a new dawn for change in the way we conduct our public affairs. That change will come with the sincere and honest implementation of the constitution to ensure devolution works for all Kenyans. To change the lives of Kenyans, we bear no ill-will against another Kenyan; we have no revenge instincts because no Kenyan has wronged us; and we will not discriminate Kenyans on the basis of their beliefs, class, region or ethnicity. Ladies and gentlemen; In concluding my remarks let me echo our position on what our education policy will seek to achieve. As I have stated before, we will not be in the business of complaining. We have determined that we have the resources as a country, and with efficient planning, we will endeavour to achieve the following;
The journey of doing things differently; united in peace for prosperity for all. Hence my pleasure to declare the UDF Secretariat office officially open. Thank you and God bless Kenya | GET INVOLVEDHelp build the campaign.
